Anti-marijuana Virginia Beach man accused of threatening to kill Congressman, upset over pot policies

By Margaret Kavanach

Norfolk, Va. – A Virginia Beach man was locked up in jail accused of threatening to kill Congressman Scott Taylor and members of his staff over marijuana policies, according to federal prosecutors.

Wallace Godwin went in front of a judge briefly in the Norfolk Federal Courthouse on Friday afternoon.

Court documents alleged Godwin threatened to bring his shotgun to Scott Taylor’s event happening Saturday.

69-year-old Godwin is accused of going into Congressman Scott Taylor’s Office in Virginia Beach Thursday and getting frustrated about marijuana policies with Taylor’s staff.

Court records state that Godwin has a concealed weapons permit.

It states that Godwin allegedly said, ““Scott is having an event this Saturday. I am going to get my shotgun and do something about this. I will just handle this myself.” God-win is then accused of pointing at two staffers in the room and stated, “You two are next.”
